I think this is the second time we have left the kids overnight (excluding stays in the hospitals due to little ones being born), and this time we were gone for FIVE nights! Thankfully our kids were in great hands! It was off to Seattle for us, a place we had never been too. Also not too far away from the kids, but far enough!
Taking the train to the condo, let the adventures begin!
Delicious pastries from the Macrina Bakery downstairs!
On our first night there we went on a ride on the Seattle Great Wheel and enjoyed the views.
We did a lot of walking... and just happened to stumble upon the gum wall... yuck!
We definitely had to visit Pike's Place!
Ready to enter into the chaos! I think my favorite thing was all the beautiful flowers.
Watching some fish being thrown!
And of course a visit to the first Starbucks!
Dinner cruise!

Celebrating 10 years together!
We took the ferry to Bainbridge Island to explore for the day.

The island!

On our hike we found wild berries every where!

Our trail took us to a dirt lot that was once a strawberry cannery... at least it had a nice view!

The coffee in Seattle was a real treat! And it kept us going with all the sightseeing.

Of course a trip to the Space Needle was in order!

The view from the top! Great views, but we had done a lot of walking this day and were a bit too tired to enjoy it.

We also visited the Chihuly Gardens, which was pretty spectacular.

The Glasshouse.

David's artistic eye!

At the last minute we decided to take a day trip to Mount Rainier, which is probably the one thing I really wanted to do. We took a tour since we didn't rent a car, so it was pretty relaxing.

Our guide knew all the great spots to stop along the mountain!

This picture doesn't do this justice... we stopped at the side of the road to see this waterfall. Our guide told us to cross the street and look straight down, it was an amazing rush of power, definitely spectacular!

Once on the mountain we stopped at Paradise, which is where we had the majority of our free time. Can you tell why it was named so?

We decided to hike to see the glacier, it's behind us...

...not the huge block of clear ice I was expecting.

On our way back down the mountain, we actually got a great shot of it! Since the weather is so unstable in this region, the weather on the mountain is unpredictable.

So beautiful! Did you know Mount Rainier is the snowiest place on earth?

Last stop on our tour... huckleberry ice cream... delicious!

Per our guide's recommendation, once we were back in Seattle, we took a water taxi over to West Seattle. It's where all the locals go. It was a great way to spend the last night of our trip!

Meanwhile, this is what the kids were up to...
Ethan got a big boy bike!
Park fun!
Loving the hills!
Special treats!
Sleepovers!
And a trip to the zoo with grandma, grandpa, Uncle James, Auntie Jo, and Camdyn!
Penguin feeding time!
Train ride with grandpa!
We had a relaxing time together and the kids had a great time too! Thanks grandpa and grandma for this special treat!
