Our Little Katie

I sadly didn't get around to doing an 18 month old post for Katie, but still wanted to post about our precious girl. She is learning so much every day, including picking up new words. She loves repeating words that we say, especially when we are labeling something. If she doesn't know the word for something she wants, she will point to it and say "this" or "that". It's still a guessing game at times, but it's exciting to hear her little voice. She has started to say phrases, the other day on the phone she said, "Daddy, I love you" and will say "I do" when asked a question like "Who wants to go on the slide?". She loves singing, her favorites include Skidamarink, Silent Night, Jesus Loves Me, and Twinkle Little Star. She also loves to dance with her brother and almost always is holding something in her hand, as evidenced in the picture above.

She definitely has a sense of humor to her, which is fun to watch. As soon as Ethan is not looking she will go and get his favorite stuffed animal of the day or climb in his favorite firetruck. She is definitely quick to take advantage of any opportunity she can to tease her brother. Although, she is also quick to give her brother back his favorite stuff animal or firetruck. She will also hold her nose and say, "stinky". When asked who is stinky, she will say "bro bro", "daddy", or "mommy". She thinks it's funny to call one of us stinky.

She also really enjoys coloring/drawing, and enjoys looking at books. Katelyn is starting to call books by their title and will sit looking at books or lay in her crib reading them before/after sleep times. A few of her favorites are Me with You, Barnyard Dance, and The Eye Book. She definitely steals my heart and it's so hard for me to use my teacher training on behavior with her, all I want to do is give in! That being said, she can throw a good tantrum, but she's so cute when she does it!
